Understanding the Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks

A person who experiences anxiety attacks knows that it is not something we should look forward to. But somehow, in order to find a way to treat this condition, we need to understand what it is all about. To make this possible, the first thing we need to do is understand the symptoms of anxiety attacks. When we know what they are, we will find more ways to treat anxiety because we can provide more detailed information to our doctors regarding this mental condition.

Before going any further, we should have it in our minds that anxiety attacks are treatable. You have to develop this mindset so you can be more open to the idea of finding a cure for anxiety. Because unless you believe that this is possible, you will be making it difficult for yourself to treat anxiety attacks.

There are many symptoms of anxiety attacks however there are also common ones that most people experience. Some of them are: tachycardia or fast heart rate, palpitations, shortness of breath, sweating, shaking, feeling of suffocation, dizziness, nausea, chest pains, lightheadedness, depersonalization and de-realization, numbness, loss of control and hot flashes.

At the onset of an anxiety attack, the person will most likely feel something odd or strange going on inside the body. Then, the person will start to sweat and feel cold at the same time. The heart starts to beat faster. Those who have experienced anxiety attacks can even determine that something awful is going to happen because of the strange sensations that will be felt at the start of an anxiety attack.

So when do anxietie attacks happen? Since it is triggered by fear, stress and tension build-up, anxiety attacks can take place anywhere. As an example, when you are driving and you feel really worried about arriving late for work because the traffic is heavy, it is possible you will encounter anxiety attacks. When you are going to an interview and you are really scared, you will also most likely get an anxiety attack. When you are about to take an exam and you were not able to study, you could suffer from it too. Basically, any time you feel threatened or scared, you have higher chances of getting an anxiety attack.

What is significant about this realization is that when anxiety attacks take place and you happen to dread the symptoms all too much, you are actually making the situation worse. When you constantly fear of an anxiety attack, it will be harder for you to control it. Therefore, it is necessary for you to understand that you should be brave enough to accept these symptoms and take a step further by doing something to fix it. Never make the mistake of telling yourself that this is a clinical disease that will be difficult to cure. Do not be resigned to this idea because you CAN treat anxiety attacks.

Trust your ability to be able to rid yourself of anxiety attacks. Come to think of it, the symptoms of an anxiety attack are very similar to what takes place when you have a good workout. You see, when we exercise, our heart beats faster, we sweat, breathing is faster and we feel warm and cold at the same time. So how come we are not panicking when these things happen?

The worry and fear of anxiety attacks is definitely going to make the condition worse. If this is the case, we should therefore eliminate negative thoughts so we can stop worrying. When we constantly fear of having a heart attack or losing control, we are making ourselves more susceptible to anxiety attacks so if this is the case, we need to make sure we should get over these fears right away.

One of the more effective ways to lessen an anxiety attack is to clear our mind from worry, tension, fear and stress. Life will be so much easier if we did not have to think about these things as they will surely be inevitable if we do not do something about these thoughts. The best way to eliminate them is to make sure we change our thinking habits and patterns by changing our attitude and our mindset. We can then move on to focus on more positive and helpful thoughts so we can finally rid ourselves of destructive thinking that does nothing but trigger anxiety attacks.
